Havana, Cuba: Cultural Immersion Program -

Lead your students on a unique opportunity to explore the rich indigenous and African Diasporic history of the Caribbean coastal city of Puerto Viejo.

  • Traveling with ADA Global Studies is a chance to experience Cuba through an African Diasporic lens. Both CoFounders, Jasmine Hall and Moriah Ray, have lived and studied in Cuba beginning in 2014 therefore they have been able to curate over a dozen itineraries centered on building solidarity and understanding with the Afro-Cuban community. Our University Study Abroad Programs and Diaspora Reunions seek to de-center traditional modes of tourism through authentic cultural exchanges that reunify the diaspora. A Diasporic Hub, Havana, is the capital of Cuba and the perfect place to do a deep dive into diasporic transnational networks. Discipline focused agendas are offered in: Agriculture, Education, Colonial and Contemporary History, and Psychology.

  • Our programs have been curated to provide students with interactive engagement with the community through intimate exchanges with Afro-Cuban scholars, activists, students, and artists. Due to the CoFounders extensive experience working in Cuba they have developed multiple disciplinary focused experiences and can craft an agenda that fits faculty requests.

  • "This past week I had the pleasure of going to Cuba with the assistance from the African Diaspora Alliance and under the guidance of Moriah Ray. She had exposed me to the Cuban culture which she is very knowledgeable."

Her knowledge of Cuba is amazing and her love for the people shows. Being there to support the Cuban people is an experience I will have for the rest of my life. The African Diaspora Alliance will open yours eyes to things one is unaware of and an experience one will never forget.

    — Cheryl Herrera (Havana, Cuba 2019)

  • "I am now encouraged to travel and explore Latin America and the Caribbean with a different perspective, not that of a lounging tourist but rather, a student of the world."

The experience visiting and studying abroad in Cuba was life changing. I created new friendships with other Morgan students who attended and made connections with students our age in Cuba. I was exposed to more knowledge about the interconnections of the African Diaspora and learned about the breadth of cultural expressions amongst black people in the Caribbean and Latin America.

    — Jaylin Pringle (2023 Education & Literacy Havana, Cuba)
